Cheapest published price with booking included
DentiMax
DentiMax In-Office is $169/month, the cheapest vendor-published plan among the systems that record online scheduling as included. Online forms and texting come at that price too, while eligibility checks and claims are billed as add-ons. The browser-based Flow line runs $499 to $899/month. Our record carries no contract term or cancellation terms for DentiMax, because the vendor publishes neither.

Best flat price per practice
iDentalSoft
iDentalSoft's Starter plan is $395/month per practice, and the vendor says the price does not change with the number of providers or users. Online scheduling, texting, eligibility checks, unlimited e-claims and online forms are all included at that figure. Cancelling before the initial term ends needs 30 days' written notice plus a fee equal to the lesser of the remaining payments or three months of fees.

Best for a practice that will add specialties
CareStack
CareStack's Essentials tier starts at $829/month with online scheduling, texting, claims and eligibility checks in the base product, and its Intelligence tier at $1,299/month. Licenses are set by location and provider rather than by staff seat. Its specialty coverage runs from general dentistry through pediatric, orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics and endodontics, and either party can terminate on 30 days' notice.

Best for an orthodontic practice
Ortho2 Edge Cloud
Ortho2 Edge Cloud starts at $384/month and records online scheduling, online forms, claims and texting as included. It is built for orthodontics only. Two things to price in: a one-time onboarding and conversion fee listed at $6,995, and a Windows requirement, since the software is an installed Windows application and a Mac needs Windows through Parallels.

How we ranked
Six rules, in priority order.
A product earns a pick because a specific sourced fact beats the same fact for others in its category. Review ratings only break ties. No vendor pays for placement, a ranking position or a mention.
- Currently sold Legacy, sunset and acquired products are left off every list.
- Published pricing A vendor-published price outranks quote-only in the same category.
- Contract and exit terms Term length, notice period, and the cost of getting data out.
- Deployment fit Server, cloud or native macOS decides awards like "keep a server".
- Specialty focus Built for the specialty, rather than listing it alongside nine others.
- Review ratings Capterra, G2 and Software Advice, only to break a tie.
What “included” means on this page
Every product in the table above records online booking as part of the base product or the cheapest paid tier, with a link to the vendor page that says so and the date we checked it. That record is the only thing a product needs to be on the list, so the table holds all fourteen.
Twenty-eight of the 40 products profiled here carry any record at all for online scheduling. Fourteen of those record it as included, four sell it separately, and ten we could not establish from the vendor’s own pages. Those ten are not a no. A product we checked without getting a clear answer and a product we have not reached yet both read as unclear here, and neither reads as a product that lacks the feature.
What the alternative costs
A practice that wants patients booking their own appointments has two routes: software that does it, or software plus a booking tool. Ten add-ons in our registry name online scheduling among the built-ins they are sold to displace, and not one of them publishes a price. So the comparison is a published monthly figure on one side, and a published monthly figure plus a quote you have to ask for on the other.
That is also why the four picks lean on products that publish what they charge. Eight of the fourteen publish a plan price at all, and the picks are drawn from those eight.
The published prices
DentiMax In-Office is the cheapest at $169/month, and it is a Windows in-office product rather than a browser one. The browser-based DentiMax Flow line runs from $499 to $899/month. Ortho2 Edge Cloud is $384/month plus the $6,995 onboarding and conversion fee. iDentalSoft is $395/month per practice, flat. CareStack starts at $829/month for Essentials.
Read the unit on each of those as carefully as the figure. DentiMax and iDentalSoft price per practice. CareStack sets licenses by location and provider. A $169 plan and a $395 plan only become comparable once you know how many locations, providers or practices the vendor is counting, which is what the five-year cost calculator does.
Contract terms worth asking about
CareStack’s standard terms let either party end the agreement at any time, with or without cause, on 30 days’ notice. iDentalSoft is the opposite: cancelling before the initial term ends needs 30 days’ written notice plus a fee equal to the lesser of the remaining payments or three months of fees, and the initial term itself is set on the order form and not published.
For DentiMax and Ortho2 Edge Cloud our record carries no contract term, because neither vendor publishes one. Get the term, the notice period and the renewal behaviour in writing before you sign, whichever of the four you pick.
What this list does not tell you
The feature record behind every row says a capability exists and names who said so. It says nothing about whether the booking page is any good, how many clicks a patient needs, or whether the slots it offers are real. We will not write a verdict on that from a feature flag.
The nearest evidence we hold is on each product profile: the four Capterra sub-scores for ease of use, customer service, features and value, each with its own review count, plus any complaints we have sourced. Eight of the fourteen products on this page carry those sub-scores. They are a review site’s numbers, labelled that way wherever they appear.
Where to go next
Run your shortlist through the Find my PMS quiz if specialty or practice size matters more to you than booking. If you are keeping software that does not include booking, the add-on registry shows which tools publish an integration with which systems and which side published the claim. The methodology page sets out how a product earns a pick and what we never do.
Frequently asked questions
Which dental software includes online booking in the base price?
Fourteen of the 40 systems we profile record online scheduling as included, meaning it comes with the base product or the cheapest paid tier. Eight of those fourteen publish a plan price: DentiMax from $169/month, Ortho2 Edge Cloud from $384/month, iDentalSoft from $395/month, ABELDent from $400/month, Oryx from $650/month, Denticon from $795/month, CareStack from $829/month and Archy from $899/month. The table on this page lists all fourteen with the source for each.
Is a built-in booking page as good as a dedicated booking tool?
Our data cannot answer that. A feature record says the capability exists, who published that claim and when we checked it, and nothing about how well it works. The closest thing we hold is the review-site sub-scores on each product profile, which are Capterra's numbers rather than ours, and the complaints we have sourced. Book a demo and try to make an appointment yourself on a phone.
What does online booking cost as an add-on?
We cannot tell you, because nobody publishes it. Ten add-ons in our registry name online scheduling among the capabilities they replace, and not one of them publishes a price. Every price on this site covers a practice management system on its own.
Does online booking mean patients can see the real schedule?
Not necessarily, and the records we hold do not say. Some products write a request into a queue for the front desk to confirm, others let a patient take a live slot. Ask which one you are buying, and ask what happens to a double-booked slot.
