Quick verdict

Archy suits a practice that wants one flat monthly price per location, imaging built in, and a browser system that has no operating system restriction in our data. Archy charges $899 a month per location, per its pricing page, checked 2026-09-26.

Denticon suits a Windows practice or DSO that wants the lower starting price of $795 a month, multi-location reporting and API access that Planet DDS records as included. It does not run on Macs.

Both are cloud systems, and both charge something when you leave. Archy bills $200 a month if you need access after termination. Denticon bills $995 per extract of imaging data.

Where each one runs

Archy is cloud software from Archy Dental, Inc., based in San Jose, California. It runs in a browser. Its listed platform is web, and we recorded no operating system restriction. Archy lists general dentistry as its only specialty. It lists startup, solo, small group, multi-location and DSO among its practice sizes.

Denticon is cloud software from Planet DDS and runs in a browser on Windows only. Planet DDS says it is not compatible with macOS. A practice with Mac workstations at the front desk or in the operatories cannot use it as described.

Denticon’s listed specialties are general, multi-specialty and DSO. Its sizes run from solo through DSO. It does not list startup.

What each costs

Archy publishes one price. The platform costs $899 a month per location, with unlimited users, providers, claim submissions, eligibility checks and texting. Integrated imaging, online forms and online scheduling are included as well.

New practices get a lower rate. Archy charges $400 a month per location until 400 patients or 1 year. An established practice pays the regular $899.

Archy also sells Clinical, Front Office and Marketing suites as add-ons. Archy publishes no price for them and quotes on request. E-Prescribe is an add-on too, with no published price. A practice that wants those suites should ask what they add before it compares totals.

Denticon’s starting price is $795 a month, per Planet DDS. Capterra lists a $750 flat-rate starting price. That is a third-party figure, and it differs from the vendor’s own, so we use $795. Planet DDS says packages, features and add-ons vary with practice size, so $795 is a starting price and not a quote.

Denticon’s texting has its own meter. Its Patient Communication package includes 6,000 text segments per office, and two-way texting includes 3,000. Segments above the package cost $0.0087 each, and there is a $20 monthly text messaging compliance fee per account. Planet DDS lists them as add-ons, outside the starting price.

Archy’s flat price is the easier one to budget. Denticon’s is lower on paper and open-ended in practice. Run both through the cost calculator with your own location count, then ask both vendors for a written quote.

Contracts and cancelling

Archy sets the term on the Order Form, and the practice agrees to pay fees for the entire term. The practice can end early only for cause. The Master Service Agreement was last updated March 18, 2025.

Notice of non-renewal is 30 days in writing, before the end of the current term. After that, each term renews automatically for successive one-month periods. Archy can change fees at the end of the initial term or a renewal term.

Denticon’s initial term ends on the first anniversary of the billing start date, then renews for one-year terms. Non-renewal needs at least 30 days’ notice before the term ends. Cancelling for convenience needs 60 days’ notice, and the fees for the rest of the current term become due immediately. Planet DDS may also adjust prices for each renewal term with written notice.

Both vendors can change prices at renewal. They differ on what follows the first term. Archy moves to month-to-month renewals. Denticon moves to one-year renewals, so a missed 30-day window costs you a year.

Archy does not publish the length of its initial term. That sits on the Order Form, so ask for it before you sign.

Getting your data out

Archy gives one export of customer data in a structured, common format at no cost. You must request it in writing on or before the termination date. Continued access after that costs $200 a month. Otherwise Archy deletes the data.

The deadline carries the risk: an export request that arrives after the termination date is not covered by the free export in the terms we read.

Under the Planet DDS agreement, the practice owns its data but must extract a copy itself before termination. It can ask Planet DDS, up to 10 business days after termination, to post the data to a secure site that stays available for 30 days. XVWeb imaging exports cost $995 per extract. Imaging data converted during the first term cannot be exported before that term ends. Extra export work is billed at current rates.

So Archy’s export is free once, with a hard deadline and a $200 monthly fee if you miss it. Denticon’s patient data is yours to extract, and imaging costs $995 each time. If imaging history matters to you, get the format and price in writing from either one.

Switching between the two

Planet DDS publishes how Denticon conversion works. Data is converted per location from supported legacy systems, with a trial conversion and audits before go-live. Imaging conversions are included per location, per database. Fees are set in the order and are not published.

We have no conversion record for Archy, so we cannot say which systems it converts from or what it charges. Archy reviewers on Capterra report trouble moving X-rays during conversion. That is a third-party complaint from a small review base, and it is worth asking about directly.

A move in either direction starts with a quote and a list of supported source systems. Ask both vendors whether they support your current system before you compare the rest.

Features and integrations

Archy records texting, eligibility checks, claims, online forms, online scheduling and perio charting as included. Imaging is native. We have no record on recall automation, treatment presentation, reporting or API access for Archy, so those are unclear. Unclear does not mean absent.

Denticon records perio charting, treatment presentation, texting, recall automation, online scheduling, online forms, eligibility checks, claims, reporting, multi-location reporting and API access as included. Planet DDS lists API integrations with more than 50 third-party products.

Denticon’s imaging is not recorded as native. Planet DDS lists Apteryx XVWeb as its imaging integration. DentalOS, launched Jul 17, 2026, links Denticon, Cloud 9 and Apteryx imaging on one data layer at no added cost to Planet DDS customers.

For add-on tools, the two sides publish different things. Archy states that x-rays are captured with Pearl AI reading them live. That is Archy’s own claim, and Pearl has not confirmed it in our data.

NexHealth lists Denticon by Planet DDS among the systems it supports, under its “Is my system supported?” checker. NexHealth does not publish the connection method per system. Neither Archy nor Planet DDS lists NexHealth on its own side in our data, and we have no NexHealth record for Archy.

What reviewers say

All figures in this section come from Capterra and are third-party estimates.

Archy holds 4.7 out of 5 from 6 reviews. Six reviews is too small a base to treat as a rating. Reviewers say staff without dental backgrounds learn it easily, and that auto-verification, forms and reminders save front-desk time. Complaints cover trouble moving X-rays during conversion, a ledger that works differently from other systems, charting display issues and limited report customization.

Denticon holds 4.5 out of 5 from 118 reviews. Reviewers like logging in from anywhere and running several locations from one system. Complaints cover slow or unresolved support tickets, too many clicks, bugs shipped in updates and a dated interface.

Capterra’s subscores for each product:

Subscore Archy Denticon
Ease of use 4.5 4.5
Customer service 4.2 4.3
Features 4.3 4.5
Value 4.5 4.4

Archy’s subscores rest on 6 reviews and Denticon’s on 118. Treat the gaps as noise and the review counts as the real difference.

On install base, Archy claims about 1,000 practices in 45 states, as of September 11, 2026. Planet DDS claims 14,500 practices and 175,000 users across all its products, and does not publish a Denticon-only figure. Both numbers are vendor claims.

Vendor-claimed users Archy claims about 1,000 practices in 45 states and more than $300M in payments processed per year (September 11, 2026, with its $50M Series C led by JMI Equity). Vendor-published at archy.com · checked Sep 26, 2026 14,500 practices and 175,000 users across all Planet DDS products, as of the DentalOS launch announcement, July 17, 2026 (vendor claim). Planet DDS does not publish a Denticon-only install base figure separate from company-wide totals. Vendor-published at planetdds.com · checked Sep 26, 2026

Capability rows cover the base product or cheapest plan, and each one links the page that claim came from. "Paid add-on" and "higher tier only" mean the vendor sells it separately or puts it in a pricier package. "Unclear" with a source means we read that page and could not establish an answer; "Unclear" with no record means we have not checked that capability on that product. Neither one says the product lacks it. 7 of the 18 capabilities we track are not yet checked on either product, so they have no row here.
