Archy vs Curve Dental (Curve Hero)
4 of 5
Quick verdict
Archy fits a general practice, from a startup to a multi-location group or DSO, that wants one flat, published monthly price covering unlimited users, providers, claims, eligibility and texting, with imaging built in. It’s a newer company, so weigh that against its shorter review history.
Curve Dental fits a practice that wants a longer track record and more imaging-hardware integrations, and that’s willing to get a custom quote instead of a published rate. It’s also the choice if your specific X-ray sensor brand is one of its named integrations.
Published pricing vs. quote only
Both products are cloud, browser-based systems with no office server to maintain. The clearest difference between them is that Archy tells you the price on its website and Curve does not.
Archy charges $899 a month per location, a single number that covers unlimited users, providers, claim submissions, eligibility checks and texting, with imaging, online forms and online scheduling built in. New practices pay $400 a month until they hit 400 patients or reach one year, whichever comes first.
Curve Dental’s pricing page has no numbers on it, only a form to request a quote. The one figure available, $99 a month per user from the aggregator SelectHub, has no stated source or method behind it and isn’t confirmed anywhere on Curve’s own site. Other aggregators show conflicting figures, and none of those made it into our data either.
What each costs
Archy’s base plan is $899 a month per location, flat, regardless of how many users or providers you have at that location. That single price includes unlimited claim submissions, eligibility checks, texting, integrated imaging, online forms and online scheduling. New practices get a discounted $400-a-month rate for up to a year or until they reach 400 patients. Archy also sells Clinical, Front Office and Marketing add-on suites, plus e-prescribing, all quote-only with no published price. If you cancel and later need continued access to your account, that costs $200 a month; that’s an exit fee tied to leaving, not part of what you’d pay while using the system, and it’s covered in the data-export section below rather than here.
Curve Dental publishes no starting price of any kind. The only number in our data, $99 per user per month, comes from a third-party aggregator that cites no source, so it’s labeled an estimate rather than a vendor figure. Get a quote directly from Curve before assuming any number applies to your practice.
Run your own location and provider counts through the cost calculator once you have a real Curve quote to compare against Archy’s published rate.
Contracts and cancelling
Archy’s initial term is whatever length your signed Order Form states, and you’re obligated to pay fees for that entire term; you can only end it early for cause. After the initial term, it renews automatically in one-month periods, and Archy can change its fees at the end of the initial term or any renewal term. You need 30 days’ written notice to stop a renewal.
Curve’s term is 12 months, starting from the date Curve receives your first subscription payment. Canceling before that term ends means paying the remaining balance for the rest of it. After the first term, it renews automatically for one-year periods at Curve’s then-current fees, and you need to give 90 days’ written notice before the end of a term if you want to cancel, which is a longer notice window than Archy’s.
Getting your data out
Archy gives you one free export of your data in a structured, common format if you request it in writing on or before your termination date. If you need continued access after that, it costs $200 a month; if you neither request the export nor pay for continued access, Archy deletes your data.
Curve lets you download your data at any time from inside the application, in a format compatible with Microsoft Excel. That policy page doesn’t say what happens to images, documents, or your access to the system once you’ve canceled, so we could not confirm those details.
Switching between the two
Neither company publishes a conversion price, and we found no published conversion process or timeline for either one. Capterra reviewers of Archy report trouble moving X-rays over during their migration.
Before signing with either one, get a written estimate of the conversion cost and timeline, and ask specifically how X-ray and image history moves, since that’s the exact point where Archy reviewers say problems show up.
Imaging and features
Archy includes native imaging as part of its flat price, with a Pearl imaging integration. The base plan bundles texting, eligibility checks, claims, online forms and online scheduling, all included at the $899 rate with no separate add-on fee for any of them.
Curve Dental also lists native imaging, plus integrations with several third-party sensor brands, including Dexis, Schick, Carestream, Planmeca, Vatech, Apteryx, Sidexis, Romexis and DTX Studio, which matters if your practice already owns hardware from one of those brands. Curve confirms texting and online scheduling as included features. Whether eligibility checks, claims processing and online forms are bundled or cost extra isn’t stated on the pages we checked. Curve’s own pages say texting, reminders and patient self-scheduling are part of the subscription at no add-on fee, but some Capterra reviewers describe needing a separate GRO subscription for mobile features; we could not confirm which is current.
On review sites, Archy holds 4.7 out of 5, but from only 6 Capterra reviews, too small a sample to weigh heavily. Reviewers who left reviews say staff without dental backgrounds learn it easily and that auto-verification and reminders save front-desk time, against complaints about X-ray migration trouble, an unfamiliar ledger layout and limited report customization. Curve Dental holds 4.4 out of 5 from 285 Capterra reviews, with reviewers citing a short learning curve for new staff and fast 24/7 support, against complaints about confusing billing workflows, weak X-ray viewing and occasional crashes.
Who should pick which
Pick Archy if you:
- Want one flat, published price per location covering users, providers, claims, eligibility, texting and imaging, with nothing to assemble for those (add-on suites and e-prescribing are quoted separately).
- Are opening a new general practice and can use the $400-a-month new-practice rate for up to a year or until you reach 400 patients.
- Are comfortable with a newer company that has a shorter review history.
Pick Curve Dental if you:
- Already use imaging hardware from one of Curve’s named integration partners.
- Want a longer track record: founded in 2004, with far more reviews and reported locations than Archy.
- Are willing to request a custom quote instead of working from a published rate.
If neither description fits cleanly, the Find my PMS quiz scores both products, and other options, against your specialty, size and budget.

Capability rows cover the base product or cheapest plan, and each one links the page that claim came from. "Paid add-on" and "higher tier only" mean the vendor sells it separately or puts it in a pricier package. "Unclear" with a source means we read that page and could not establish an answer; "Unclear" with no record means we have not checked that capability on that product. Neither one says the product lacks it. 11 of the 18 capabilities we track are not yet checked on either product, so they have no row here.
Frequently asked questions
Does Archy or Curve Dental publish pricing?
Archy does: $899 a month per location for unlimited users, providers, claims, eligibility checks and texting, with a $400-a-month new-practice rate for up to a year or until you reach 400 patients. Curve Dental's own pricing page is a quote form only. One aggregator, SelectHub, lists $99 per user per month, but Curve does not confirm that figure on its own site, so treat it as an estimate, not a quote.
What happens to my data if I leave Archy?
You get one free export of your data in a structured, common format if you request it in writing on or before your termination date. After that, keeping access costs $200 a month; if you don't request the export or pay for continued access, Archy deletes the data.
Is texting included with Curve Dental or is it extra?
Curve's own pages say texting, reminders and patient self-scheduling are part of the subscription at no add-on fee. Some Capterra reviewers describe needing a separate GRO subscription for mobile features. We could not resolve that conflict from the sources available, so confirm directly with Curve before you assume it's bundled.
How long is the initial contract for Archy and Curve Dental?
Archy's term length is set on your signed Order Form, and you owe fees for the whole term; you can only end it early for cause, and it auto-renews monthly after that with 30 days' notice needed to stop it. Curve's term is 12 months starting when Curve receives your first payment, canceling early means paying the rest of that term's balance, and you need 90 days' written notice before the term ends to cancel.
Which is the more established product, Archy or Curve Dental?
Curve Dental was founded in 2004, now sells browser-based cloud software, and claims more than 100,000 active users across 6,000-plus practice locations in the US and Canada, with 285 Capterra reviews. Archy launched in 2021 and claims about 1,000 practices in 45 states, with 6 Capterra reviews.
