Quick verdict

CareStack is a cloud suite with published starting prices. Eaglesoft is a server product sold in Patterson’s Service Club tiers, with no published prices and a 24-month enrollment.

Pick CareStack if you want to see a price before you call, do not want to own a server, or run more than one specialty. Pick Eaglesoft if you buy through Patterson already, want the license, upgrades and support in one plan, and are prepared to run a physical Windows server.

Cloud or physical server

CareStack runs in a browser, and CareStack hosts the software. Its listed specialties run from general and pediatric through orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics and endodontics, and its listed sizes run from startup to DSO.

Eaglesoft is from Patterson Dental, part of Patterson Companies. It lists general practice only, for solo and small-group offices. Patterson requires a physical on-site Windows server and does not support a virtual machine of any kind. Full remote access needs a separate remote-desktop tool, though Eaglesoft Mobile is included in every Service Club plan.

What each costs

CareStack lists Essentials from $829 a month, per its pricing page, checked 2026-09-26. Essentials includes imaging cleared by the FDA, eligibility checks, claims, texting, email, online appointments and a patient portal.

Intelligence starts at $1,299 a month. It adds clinical notes, voice perio charting, X-ray analysis and clinical diagnosis, all done by AI.

The final price depends on locations, chairs and providers. An implementation fee applies in certain cases, with no amount published.

Patterson sells Eaglesoft through five Service Club plans, and publishes no price for any of them. Every plan includes the license at no extra cost, free upgrades and unlimited phone, chat and email support. Patterson notes that Service Club pricing rose on Oct 1, 2025, and does not give the amount.

The plans differ by discount off the Service Club rate and by what they bundle:

The one dollar figure Patterson publishes is DoseSpot ePrescriptions at $55 a month per provider, bought separately from the plans. A third-party blog puts Service Club support at $300 to $500 a month and cites no links, so treat it as an estimate.

Use the cost calculator once Patterson gives you a written quote. The two vendors price on different bases, so do not add or net their figures against each other.

What is included

CareStack records included texting, eligibility, claims, online scheduling, perio charting and imaging bridge. E-prescribing is an add-on. Online forms and the mobile app are unclear.

Eaglesoft records claims, eligibility, e-prescribing, texting, online forms, recall automation and online scheduling as higher-tier, meaning they arrive with a Service Club tier and not with every plan. The mobile app, reporting, treatment presentation and imaging bridge are included. Patient financing is an add-on, and card on file is unclear.

Both products carry native imaging. Eaglesoft Advanced Imaging acquires and edits X-rays and video inside the program, with no added imaging fee, and lists Dentsply Sirona Sidexis, DEXIS, Planmeca, Air Techniques, Instrumentarium, Soredex, Progeny and Schick. CareStack’s page lists native imaging and names no third-party imaging integrations.

Integrations

Both sides publish their lists, and they differ. Patterson lists Weave, RevenueWell, Dental Intelligence and Solutionreach among Eaglesoft’s authorized integrations. Dental Intelligence states Eaglesoft version 18.1 and above as its requirement. Patterson says claims submit to DentalXChange directly from Eaglesoft and prices that separately. Vyne Trellis is bundled into the Service Club plans from Starter up, with Trellis Intake on Foundations and Trellis Activate on Professional.

CareStack names RingCentral among its phone integrations, with call pop and outbound calling. We found no RingCentral row on Eaglesoft’s side, and no Weave, RevenueWell, Dental Intelligence, Solutionreach or Vyne Trellis row on CareStack’s.

NexHealth lists both CareStack and Eaglesoft by Patterson Dental as supported systems. It does not publish the connection method.

Eaglesoft also lists more than 55 authorized third-party integrations through Patterson Innovation Connection. CareStack says it does not charge for using integrated third-party apps.

Contracts and cancelling

Eaglesoft Service Club plans require a 24-month enrollment. We found no published renewal or cancellation policy for what follows that term, so ask before you enroll.

CareStack sets the initial term on each Order Form and renews automatically for successive one-year periods. You give 30 days’ notice of non-renewal before the term ends. The standard terms also let either party terminate at any time, with or without cause, on 30 days’ notice.

On paper CareStack has the shorter commitment. The order form you sign decides the actual length.

Getting your data out

CareStack will help export a file of your data during the term and for up to 90 days after it ends, in a format CareStack chooses. Request it 10 days ahead, pay CareStack’s then-current hourly rates, and expect a 15-day delivery target.

We found no Eaglesoft data export policy or price from Patterson.

Switching between them

CareStack says it has converted data from more than 60 practice management systems, using a sandbox test before the final migration. No conversion price is published. We did not find Eaglesoft named on that page.

Patterson says it has converted practices from more than 250 programs, typically in 4 to 6 weeks. Most imaging software does not support image conversion, so old images stay in the old software. Through Oct 31, 2026, new offices get 50% off an advanced data conversion that Patterson values at $1,000. Imaging conversion is excluded. That offer applies to a practice moving onto Eaglesoft, not off it.

Reviews

On Capterra, CareStack holds 4.8 out of 5 from 219 reviews and Eaglesoft holds 4.1 out of 5 from 157 reviews. Both are third-party ratings.

CareStack reviewers cite detailed reporting and KPI tracking, one system for scheduling, billing, charting and patient messages, and responsive chat support. They complain about too many steps to post insurance payments, a learning curve for navigation and report setup, limited dashboard customization, and slow replies on non-urgent tickets.

Eaglesoft reviewers praise ease of use, quick staff training and the color-coded schedule. They complain about hard-to-find and inflexible reports, occasional freezes that need restarts, and only one user at a time in a patient chart.

CareStack claims more than 3,000 practices. Patterson claims nearly 30,000 users. One counts practices and the other counts users, so the two claims do not compare.

Capability rows cover the base product or cheapest plan, and each one links the page that claim came from. "Paid add-on" and "higher tier only" mean the vendor sells it separately or puts it in a pricier package. "Unclear" with a source means we read that page and could not establish an answer; "Unclear" with no record means we have not checked that capability on that product. Neither one says the product lacks it. 4 of the 18 capabilities we track are not yet checked on either product, so they have no row here.
